Vietnam MICE Tourism: Opportunities for International Travel Partners

MICE tourism is becoming increasingly relevant to travel companies looking beyond conventional leisure itineraries. Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions can generate demand not only for hotels and venues, but also for transportation, dining, activities, entertainment and pre- or post-event travel.

Vietnam is now placing greater strategic emphasis on this segment. At a national MICE forum in August 2026, Vietnam’s tourism authorities cited international research projecting the global MICE and business travel market to exceed USD 1.8 trillion in 2026 and reach around USD 2.4 trillion by 2031. MICE travellers were also reported to spend three to six times more on average than conventional tourists.

For international travel partners, this creates an important product-development question: how can Vietnam MICE tourism be turned into a commercially relevant programme for corporate clients?

Why Vietnam MICE Tourism Matters for Travel Partners

Vietnam’s MICE market is currently estimated at close to USD 6 billion, according to figures presented at the 2026 High-Level Tourism Forum in Ho Chi Minh City.

More importantly, the country is moving from viewing MICE simply as groups attending meetings toward positioning it as a higher-value tourism ecosystem connected with accommodation, aviation, transportation, gastronomy, culture, shopping, technology and destination experiences.

Vietnamese authorities are also encouraging MICE programmes to integrate heritage, cuisine, wellness, green standards and technology rather than operating as isolated business events.

For overseas travel partners, this means MICE can become a way to diversify the Vietnam portfolio beyond traditional FIT and leisure group products while opening access to corporate, association and incentive-travel demand.

What the Latest Data Means Commercially

Destination investment is becoming increasingly visible.

Da Nang aims to welcome and support nearly 93,000 MICE visitors in 2026, approximately 12% more than in 2025. Its support programme now applies to international MICE groups from 30 participants, alongside initiatives encouraging returning groups and stronger cooperation with MICE businesses.

Ho Chi Minh City, meanwhile, introduced a MICE support policy covering the 2026–2030 period, while national authorities are calling for stronger infrastructure, international-standard facilities and policies capable of attracting major global organisers.

For travel partners, these developments indicate that Vietnam is not only promoting MICE as a marketing concept; destinations are actively building infrastructure, support mechanisms and products around the segment.

Match the MICE Product to the Client Brief

MICE should not be sold as one standard package. Different corporate clients require different product structures.

A sales incentive group may respond well to a resort-based programme combining recognition events, local dining, team activities and destination experiences.

A regional corporate meeting may prioritise international access, efficient airport transfers, meeting facilities and a short cultural or culinary programme.

A dealer or distributor group may require conferences, gala dinners, entertainment and structured sightseeing.

An association or professional group may need conference facilities combined with optional pre- and post-event tours.

The product-development logic should therefore be:

Client objective → participant profile → destination → experience mix → operational plan

Turning MICE Into a Sellable Vietnam Product

The strongest proposition is not simply “a conference in Vietnam.”

It is a programme built around a specific business and travel motivation.

Da Nang and Central Vietnam, for example, can be positioned for conference-plus-resort programmes combining meetings, team building, beaches, cuisine and heritage experiences.

Ho Chi Minh City can support corporate programmes focused on urban connectivity, business facilities, dining, entertainment and short extensions.

Hanoi and Northern Vietnam can add stronger cultural content to executive meetings or incentive programmes, with opportunities for pre- or post-event extensions.

This approach also creates natural upselling opportunities: additional nights, private dining, team activities, premium transport, cultural programmes or multi-destination extensions can increase the overall value of the booking without simply adding more sightseeing.

What Travel Partners Need to Consider Operationally

MICE groups are more operationally sensitive than conventional leisure tours.

Hotel room blocks, meeting space, airport transfers, coach movements, technical equipment, meal timing, dietary requirements, gala venues, branding, weather contingency and on-site coordination must work together.

Larger groups may also require significantly earlier supplier confirmation, particularly during peak tourism periods or major events.

This is where destination knowledge becomes commercially important: a programme that looks attractive in a proposal still needs to work at ground level.

Where a Local DMC Adds Value

Identifying MICE demand is only the first step. The greater challenge is translating a corporate brief from an overseas client into a programme that is sellable, costable and operationally realistic.

As a local DMC and direct operator, An Vui Travel supports international travel partners with destination selection, programme development, accommodation, transportation, guides, local experiences, supplier coordination and pre- or post-MICE touring.

Rather than requiring partners to work from a fixed package, programmes can be developed around the corporate client’s group size, objective, participant profile, duration, travel period and budget framework.

Vietnam’s growing focus on MICE creates an opportunity for international travel partners to expand beyond traditional leisure travel and develop higher-value group products for corporate and incentive clients.

Successful MICE product development, however, depends on more than selecting a hotel or meeting venue. The strongest programmes connect client objectives, participant motivation, destination experiences and realistic local operations.

For travel partners, that combination can turn Vietnam from simply another destination option into a relevant addition to the corporate travel portfolio.
