Vinh Phuc to Host Colorful Hot Air Balloon Festival During National Holiday

Vinh Phuc province is set to host a vibrant and large-scale Hot Air Balloon Festival from April 30 to May 4, 2025, at Ho Chi Minh Square in Vinh Yen City. The event coincides with two major national celebrations: the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. This promises to be a cultural and entertainment highlight of the long holiday, attracting both domestic and international tourists.

The festival is part of the province’s broader strategy to develop tourism into a leading economic sector. It aims to offer residents and visitors high-quality cultural and recreational experiences while promoting the image of Vinh Phuc as a dynamic and welcoming destination.

The centerpiece of the event will be the presence of 30 hot air balloons in various forms and sizes. Among these, three balloons will offer tethered rides for visitors to enjoy aerial views of the city. The rest include helium-inflated models and large decorative balloons set to create a festive and colorful atmosphere throughout the venue.

In addition to the balloon displays, the festival will feature a wide range of activities. These include a grand outdoor music concert, cultural performances, a street carnival, food and craft stalls showcasing local specialties, and family-friendly entertainment. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of the region while enjoying modern recreational experiences.

The event will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors. With a total estimated cost of 15 billion VND, the entire festival will be funded through socialized resources, underscoring the strong support and participation of the private sector.

Local authorities are coordinating closely to ensure the festival is organized in a safe, efficient, and meaningful way. It is also seen as an opportunity for Vinh Phuc to strengthen its position as a host of major cultural events in northern Vietnam, with the long-term goal of reaching international recognition.
