Continously Promoting Vietnam destination to Myanmar Market

In early July 2025, Mr. Nguyen Manh Linh (Jerry), Founder & CEO of Anvui Travel, embarked on a strategic sales mission to Yangon, Myanmar, with a clear goal — to strengthen regional tourism ties by introducing Vietnam as a top destination for Myanmar travelers. The visit came on the heels of a significant milestone: the recent launch of a direct flight route from Yangon to Danang, Vietnam’s central coastal city, opening new doors for bilateral tourism between the two nations.

This sales call was not merely a courtesy visit; it was a well-planned initiative aimed at building long-term partnerships with Myanmar travel agencies, showcasing Vietnam’s cultural richness and natural beauty, and tapping into the growing travel demand among Myanmar tourists seeking new experiences abroad.

Bridging Destinations: Why Vietnam Now?

Vietnam and Myanmar share more than just geographical proximity; they share a mutual interest in cultural heritage, Buddhist traditions, and a rising middle class eager to explore neighboring countries. With the new direct route to Danang added to the existing Yangon–Hanoi and Yangon–Ho Chi Minh City flights, Myanmar travelers can now access three of Vietnam’s most iconic cities more conveniently than ever.

“The timing is perfect,” Mr. Jerry shared. “We’re seeing a growing appetite among Myanmar tourists for short-haul regional travel, and Vietnam offers an ideal blend of spiritual heritage, modern attractions, and seaside escapes — all within 2–3 hours of flight.”

A Warm Welcome from Myanmar Partners

During the 5-day sales visit, Mr. Jerry met with more than 40 travel agencies and tour operators based in Yangon. The meetings, held in both formal office settings and over informal tea sessions, reflected the hospitality and keen interest of Myanmar’s tourism community.

“I was humbled by how warmly we were received,” Mr. Jerry remarked. “Many of the agents already had good awareness of Vietnam but were eager to understand more about new experiences, visa policies, halal-friendly tours, and Vietnamese cuisine that appeals to Myanmar palates.”

Highlights of the meetings included:

  • Presenting Anvui Travel’s range of Vietnam tour packages tailored to the Myanmar market, including Danang – Bana Hills – Hoi An cultural tours, Hanoi – Halong – Ninh Binh combinations, and Ho Chi Minh City shopping & food tours.
  • Discussing group and FIT (Free Independent Traveler) incentives for Myanmar outbound operators.
  • Sharing updates on e-visa availability, accessibility, and travel safety for inbound visitors.
  • Exploring cooperation for upcoming Buddhist pilgrimage programs and youth travel initiatives.

Promoting Vietnam’s Unique Allure

Vietnam’s tourism offering is especially resonant for Myanmar travelers due to several cultural affinities:

  1. Spiritual Heritage: With destinations like the Perfume Pagoda in Hanoi, Linh Ung Pagoda in Danang, and Giac Lam Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam provides Buddhist-focused itineraries that appeal to spiritually inclined travelers.
  2. Scenic Nature & Cool Weather: The lush green landscapes of Sapa, cool highlands of Dalat, and the majestic karsts of Halong Bay are all contrasting experiences to Myanmar’s mostly tropical terrain.
  3. Affordable Luxury: With quality 3–4 star accommodations, well-developed infrastructure, and accessible pricing, Vietnam presents excellent value for money for Myanmar tourists.
  4. Culinary Curiosity: Vietnamese cuisine — from pho and banh mi to fresh spring rolls — is both familiar in flavor and excitingly new for Myanmar travelers, with halal and vegetarian options becoming increasingly available.

Danang: A New Gateway

The highlight of Mr. Jerry’s presentation to Myanmar partners was the potential of Danang as a new entry point into Vietnam.

“Danang offers the perfect trio — beach relaxation, cultural immersion in Hoi An, and mountaintop adventures at Bana Hills,” he explained. “With the new flight route, we want to make Danang a priority destination for first-time Myanmar travelers.”

Mr. Jerry emphasized that Anvui Travel is developing new Myanmar-language brochures and optional Burmese-speaking tour guides in key cities to better serve this market.

Collaborating for the Future

One of the key outcomes of the visit was the establishment of several B2B cooperation agreements. Selected Yangon-based agents will begin testing 4D3N and 5D4N Vietnam packages with promotional prices for small group departures starting from September 2025.

Anvui Travel also committed to co-investing in digital marketing campaigns targeted at the Myanmar market, including localized Facebook ads, short video content introducing Vietnamese highlights, and joint promotions during Myanmar’s Thadingyut and Thingyan festivals.

“Sales calls like this are not just about selling a tour,” Mr. Jerry concluded. “They’re about building relationships, sharing culture, and finding mutual benefit. Myanmar and Vietnam have so much to offer each other.”

Looking Ahead

As Vietnam positions itself as a regional tourism hub post-COVID recovery, partnerships like these are vital for sustainable growth. Anvui Travel’s initiative in Myanmar serves as a model of how private sector diplomacy and cross-border friendship can boost tourism and economic exchange in Southeast Asia.

The seeds planted during this visit are already sprouting. Myanmar agents have shown strong interest in customizing pilgrimage tours, family travel, and honeymoon trips to Vietnam. With direct flights, cultural alignment, and a shared desire for discovery — the journey from Yangon to Vietnam is only just beginning.

Anvui Travel invites all Myanmar travel partners to join hands in introducing the Land of the Dragon to more travelers — and turning every journey into a story worth sharing.
