10 Days in Vietnam: A Journey of Slow Travel and Deep Local Experiences

Discover Vietnam beyond traditional sightseeing with An Vui Travel’s 10-day trip. Designed for international travel professionals, this journey combines meaningful local encounters, cultural immersion and hands-on experiences to inspire distinctive, marketable Vietnam travel programmes.

Discover a Different Way to Experience Vietnam

What makes a journey truly memorable? Is it the number of famous landmarks visited, or the meaningful moments shared with local people along the way?

As international travellers increasingly seek authentic cultural encounters, slower journeys and more personal connections with destinations, Vietnam offers exciting opportunities for travel companies to rethink traditional itineraries. From harvesting tea with a local farmer to preparing Vietnamese dishes with a host family, cycling through peaceful villages and discovering traditional crafts, the most memorable experiences often happen beyond major tourist attractions.

10 Days Exploring Vietnam Through Local Experiences

The journey connects Northern, Central and Southern Vietnam, combining iconic destinations with experiences that reveal the country’s everyday life, cultural traditions and regional diversity.

Northern Vietnam: Where Local Stories Begin

The adventure starts in Hanoi before taking participants into the peaceful countryside of Ri Village. Here, travel professionals will meet local hosts, learn to harvest tea on a traditional plantation, prepare home-style Vietnamese dishes and explore workshops producing familiar local products. Cycling through rice fields and experiencing a traditional herbal foot soak inspired by Muong ethnic traditions add another dimension to the day.

The journey continues to Ha Long Bay, where an overnight cruise offers time to appreciate its spectacular limestone landscapes.

Rather than rushing between destinations, participants will also experience an overnight train journey from Hanoi to Hue, discovering another way to connect Vietnam’s regions.

Central Vietnam: Heritage, Farming and Traditional Crafts

In Hue, participants will explore the Imperial Citadel and enjoy a royal-style dinner inspired by the city’s culinary heritage. The journey then continues through Da Nang to Hoi An, where cultural participation becomes a central part of the experience.

At Bay Mau Coconut Forest, participants will ride traditional basket boats and learn local rowing techniques.

In Tra Que Vegetable Village, they will join farmers in tending vegetable gardens before preparing regional dishes such as Cao Lau, Banh Xeo and Tam Huu.

A visit to Thanh Ha Pottery Village provides an opportunity to meet artisans and try traditional pottery-making techniques.

These activities demonstrate how heritage, food and community interaction can become meaningful components of an experiential itinerary.

Southern Vietnam: Discovering Local Life Through Food and River Culture

Ho Chi Minh City introduces another perspective on Vietnam through an evening electric-bike food tour. Participants will explore lively markets, historic neighbourhoods and local alleyways while tasting Saigon specialties, including Banh Mi, Banh Xeo and grilled street food.

The journey then continues to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Here, traditional brick kilns, coconut-processing workshops, coconut candy production and mat-weaving villages reveal how local livelihoods are connected to the region’s rivers and agricultural traditions.

A peaceful sampan ride through palm-lined canals provides a memorable conclusion to the cultural exploration.
