The Red Flamboyant train with Indochine-style interior takes visitors back to the Indochina era on the journey between Hanoi and Hai Phong.

On May 10, the Hai Phong City People’s Committee officially announced Hai Phong Station as a tourist destination, marking an important turning point in honoring the historical, architectural and cultural values of one of the oldest train stations in Vietnam. Built in 1902, Hai Phong Station bears the mark of ancient French architecture, standing out in the heart of the city and becoming a witness to many important historical events over the past century.

Also on May 10, the Red Flamboyant Train officially opened to serve tourists. With a completely new interface and interior, the train brings tourists new experiences.

Train number LP6 departed from Hai Phong station at 9:10 and arrived at Hanoi station at 11:40. The train was painted red and white, with the red phoenix flower logo. Many tourists were excited and took photos to check in in front of the new look of the train.

Inside the VIP compartment of the train, the interior is designed in Indochine style, dark tones combined with wooden materials create a luxurious feeling. The entire car has 34 seats arranged along both sides, with a main aisle in the middle. The floor is paved with classic brown herringbone tiles.

The train carriages are decorated with ceiling lights, table lamps, large vases and colorful flower pots. Passengers are served chrysanthemum tea or coconut ice cream, Hai Phong’s signature drinks.

The first-class cabin, equipped with 180-degree rotating seats and bright yellow tones, was also full of passengers on the morning train on May 12.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang – an employee of the Hanoi – Hai Phong railway line said that since the opening day, all trains have been sold out, especially the VIP and first-class cars. “The tourists are all excited about the experience and give positive reviews,” Ms. Hang informed.

Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, a Hai Phong resident who has been away from home for 33 years, also took advantage of the opening of the new train to experience it. On May 10, she was unable to buy a ticket for the VIP compartment because many people had booked in advance. It was not until the morning of May 12 that she had the opportunity to experience the VIP compartment on the Red Flamboyant train. She commented that the train compartment has a modern design, luxurious space and soft, comfortable seats. The services and staff are friendly and attentive.
Special train Hanoi – Hai Phong
Nguyen Tran Hieu – a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City who came to Hai Phong to watch the parade and also experienced the Red Flamboyant train on the morning of May 12. He said this was the most impressive train he had ever been on, from the exterior to the interior, everything was meticulously invested and equipped with modern facilities. “I felt like I was an aristocrat sitting in the VIP compartment with Indochine style,” he said.
