How to Complete the Vietnam Digital Arrival Card: A Step-by-Step Guide for Passengers

Vietnam now requires all international passengers to submit a Digital Arrival Card before clearing immigration at its three major international airports. The registration is free, takes under five minutes with the right information on hand, and must be done within 72 hours of landing. Completing it before departure saves time at the airport and avoids unnecessary stress at the immigration counter.

What to Prepare Before Starting

Personal documents
Passport bio page (photo or scan for auto-fill), passport number and expiry date, full name, date of birth, nationality, working email address (for OTP verification), contact phone number, and visa or entry document details (number, issue date, expiry, issuing authority) if applicable.

Travel details
Flight number, arrival date, country of departure, purpose of travel, full accommodation address in Vietnam (hotel name, city, district, and street), and intended departure date from Vietnam.

Step 1: Gather Required Documents

  • Valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months after arrival)
  • Flight details (arrival date, flight number, airport code)
  • Accommodation information in Vietnam (full address, phone number)
  • Email address (to receive QR code)

Step 2: Access the Official Vietnam Immigration Portal

Go to https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn (the official government portal for pre-arrival registration).

Step 3: Complete the Online Application

  • Select your language (English available)
  • Enter personal information exactly as in your passport (full name, passport number, date of birth, gender, nationality)
  • Input travel details (arrival date, flight number, port of entry)
  • Provide accommodation address in Vietnam
  • Answer health and customs questions
  • Review all information carefully — errors can cause delays

Step 4: Save Your QR Code

  • A confirmation email with your QR code will arrive within minutes
  • Screenshot the QR code and save it offline
  • Print a backup copy if preferred

Step 5: Present at Immigration

  • Upon arrival at SGN, proceed to the immigration counter
  • Show your passport, visa/e-Visa (if required), and digital QR code
  • The officer will scan your QR code and stamp your passport

At the Immigration Counter

The officer will scan the QR code, pull up the pre-submitted declaration, and process entry. Passengers should also have their passport ready, along with any visa or visa-exemption document if applicable, and a return or onward ticket if requested.

Group Bookings and Families

Every passenger needs their own declaration regardless of age. Parents and guardians can complete the form on behalf of children using the child’s passport details. For groups traveling together, a single submission can cover multiple passengers, simplifying the process for families and tour groups.
