Global hotel operator IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to open a 52-room hotel near iconic landmarks in downtown Ho Chi Minh City later this year amid a boom in foreign arrivals.
The hotel will be a half-hour drive from Tan Son Nhat International Airport and less than a kilometer from attractions such as Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Opera House.
The upcoming hotel comes at a time as Vietnam’s tourism has been experiencing strong growth in the first half of this year with 10.7 million foreign arrivals, up 21% year-on-year thanks to visa relaxation and upgrade of airport infrastructure.
Between January and June, Ho Chi Minh City received 3.8 million foreign tourists, up 44% year-on-year.
The southern metropolis with vibrant street food scene and diverse nightlife entertainment options was the top choice for a one-night stay in Vietnam, according to digital travel platform Agoda based on its booking data in the first five months of 2025.
IHG, which owns 19 brands including InterContinental and Holiday Inn, currently operates more than 6,600 hotels across over 100 countries and territories.
